Meet the gal behind the mixing bowl!
Hi y’all! I'm Kaitlyn Laxson McCormick.
So where did it all begin? Well, I’ve been baking forever. It’s only been in the past few years, since I left the office world to be a stay-at-home mommy, that I really honed in on my craft of edible art. I am an estate-planning/workers’ compensation paralegal, turned self-taught baker and decorator. Who, if you know me well, know that I actually have a college degree in Vocal Performance. Yep! Singing! Who knew?!? My love of baking came from two very special women in my life, my grandmothers. One, who has always called me her ‘Katie Belle’, let me butter the dish for her famous monkey bread. The other, carefully tied on my great-grandmother’s apron while I stood on a chair at her kitchen counter impatiently awaiting our next baking adventure! It’s where the love of edible art, and the true power of loving people through their stomachs, truly began.
I’ve moved a ton (any United Methodist Preachers’ kids out there?!?), but my husband’s job brought us to Decatur, Alabama just one year after marriage roughly 8 years ago and I’ve been baking it a sweeter place ever since! I am a one-woman operation, with the unwaivering support of my hottie hubs, little guy, and as always, my best furry gal-pal, Pearl.
I believe in kitchen dance parties, the art of a swooning tablescape, filling life with good parties and company, and the hugely underestimated kindness in loving via simple gifting. I'd be lying if I didn't say my favorite part of the cookie order is the packaging! My boxes are always tied up with a big pink bow and lots of love! As a Type 1 insulin-dependent Diabetic for 25 years, and Celiac Disease, these are absolutely a labor of love!
There's a ton of cool cats and kitchens (reference intentional hehe) out there whipping up a bunch of insanely good cookies, but I hope that you will share the word and give me a chance!
